There I sat thinking, “What am I going to do?” I have to get this PDF file turned into a Flipbook. Sure, I could load it up onto the Internet as is, but then people wouldn’t be able to read it. You see PDF files are not easily searchable, so the best solution was to try making a flipbook magazine from the PDF. Still, this was a complex project. “How was I going to do that?”

Sure I had seen these neat online magazines, with beautiful graphics and sweet layouts, but I was certain this was going to be one of those all-nighters, and even then, I wasn’t sure I was going to get it done on time. My turn in date was 10 a.m. the following morning. I rushed home and went about finding the best way of making a flipbook to post on my blog.

The Platforms

After reading reviews and how-to’s for the better part of an hour, I decided to try Issuu. It looked good, and I thought it was somewhat easy. This was going to be my solution in making a flipbook. So this was the platform I initially tried. After another hour, I found that Issuu had speed issues for uploading PDFs. But finally, I got it up I thought, then I went to embed the magazine on my website – and guess what – let’s just say I wasn’t in a very good mood. Came to find out that Issuu doesn’t have a sharing feature, or at least I couldn’t find it when I was making a flipbook magazine. So what was the purpose of using this platform to make a magazine if I couldn’t share it with readers, with friends or with colleagues that visited my site? Nope, this certainly wasn’t a viable option for me when making a flipbook.

Guess What They Didn’t Work! (All Except for Yumpu.com)

After wasting that hour, I learned quickly that I better check to see if there was a share option on other platforms for making a flipbook. To my chagrin, Blurb, Scribed, Slideshare, Magcloud and even iBook maker had one issue or another. None were really easy to work with and all had some type of limitation. Finally, after hours of research I found an easy to use platform for making flipbooks. It’s called www.yumpu.com, and best of all, it’s totally free, no gimmicks, malware or any other sneaky “pay for me” line.

How Does It Work?

If you ever need something to help you make a flipbook or online magazine, you’ve got to try Yumpu. This is really easy to use. There is nothing to download. All you do is click on the upload PDF button at the top of the screen. Wait for the file to upload, and suddenly, lo and behold, the file was up in just a few minutes. It worked like magic and gave me the option to share the document or place it on my website. From there you can share it on your social media platforms and on your website. It loads quickly, requires no tweaks or fixes like the other platforms – and after a minute or two, you have a magazine like digital work of art, ready to share with all your friends.

Bottom Line

I would recommend Yumpu.com for its fabulous ease of use. While other sites may allow for PDF uploads and even sharing, they aren’t this simple to use when making a flipbook. This is very intuitive and you don’t have to be really technically inclined to use it. If I had known about this product before deciding to make this flipbook, I would have saved a lot of time and energy. Yumpu is great and I’ve used it several times since that first initiation.
